Agency Works to Arm Counselors with Financial Relief Hotlines for Families

Social Workers, ministries, and family counselors can now receive a free list of help hotlines, to help more families in financial trouble. CareConnect USA, a national outreach, has identified key financial needs for families, and national hotlines for help.

"My heart breaks for my clients in a financial crisis. I always I wish I could do more," says Joan Wall, a family therapist. "It's difficult to focus on behavioral issues when clients are beleaguered with money troubles. If I can help a family reduce their monthly bills, or catch up missed payments, I can provide more effective counseling." Designed as inserts for dayplanners used extensively by counselors, the hotlines are a quick reference for financial assistance and relief.

"The ease of accessibility makes it the perfect tool," says Ruth Hoskins a social worker specializing in critical incident and stress management. "I try to mention the hotlines at all my trainings."

It's long been understood that financial strain can lead to severe problems such as domestic abuse, addiction, divorce and crime. The new tool is expected to prove valuable for all who need resources standing by, as they counsel families in crisis.
